i am not sure yet, because he has done alot of bad things. it is up to allah i suppose to save him and see if he has deemed himself fit for redemption. -jsizzle
I think by moving to America it will allow Amir to leave his past behind, as far as the people and memories within places. However I don't think the thoughts and visions will ever leave his mind, no matter where he lives. By living in America he has a lot more to focus on and keep him busy, but there are still moments when something will trigger the image of Hassan in his mind. That day will always remain a part of him, regardless of where he is or who he is with. When Amir doesn't have to wake up every morning and know that there is a possibility that he might see Assef, that reduces the chance of him thinking about Hassan as well. Amir living in America limits the times he thinks about his past and Hassan, but does not fully erase his past. -lwil
I believe that Amir's past will never be forgotten, because once you live with guilt it will stay there depending on the severity of what you did. But the fact that he has come to America he will not think about it as much as he did when he was in his own county, because America will not have have little thing that will remind him of it it as it did Kabul. -Alisha Terry
Well, he will always have the memory and will look back on the event. But, I'm sure he will be able to create a new life and meet new people and this will help him put it in the back of his mind and move on.
It will help him to avoid thinking about the incident a little bit, but he will never be free from the guilty feeling that he has. He would be ashamed wherever he goes. -HaNee
When Amir and his father first arrived Amir could start a new life but now that he is about to marry Soraya and she told him she secret, his secret is now going to haunt him once again and he is going to feel confused and anxious whether to tell her or not. -Carol
I believe that Amir expects to foget his past and the horrible things he has done when he and his father move to California. Unfortunantly, he realizes that it's not that simple- he realizes that he will never forget the way he betrayed Hassan or the friendship he tore apart. In my eyes, it will be impossible for Amir to forget his past, it will haunt him until he can be honest with the people he loves and tell them what really happened. -TM
i think by moving to America, Amir won't leave his past behind because it's all his youth. Even though he came to america, he kept thinking about every thing that he did to Hassan. -lanyobeu
What Amir did with Hassan was a very bad thing. Amir will have to live with his decision for the rest of his life. I think that it will always be apart of him no matter where he moves to. Moving to America would help him forget. His marriage decisions on the other hand will not, especially since she told him a deep secret, when he will not reveal his. In my opinion when Amir tells someone his deep secret, he will start to forget what had happened back in Kabul, until he does that his secret will keep on haunting him. He can lie to himself and tell himself to forget, but until the truth comes out, no matter who he marries, or where he moves to he will not forget what happened in Afghanistan.
Amir would never forget his past, and now that he is married to a young Afghan girl that will make him miss Hassan a lot more. Not only Hassan but Afghanistan too.
I don't think it will help Amir to erase his past. Moving to US will give new life and he will try to get use to every new things that he hasn't experienced before. But after he gets used to ordinary things around him and whenever he got into troubles, he will feel emptiness. Then he will re-think his past, which is memories of his youth.
I doubt that Amir will totally forget his past. He may be in America and have a fresh start, but he will constantly have things reminding him of his actions in the past. Now that Soraya has confessed he secret, he will feel compelled to share his. A.Lawhorne
I think no matter where you go, the past will always be with you. You can't run away from it and forget it either. The past is what makes us who we are now. It doesn't matter if our past was good or bad, it is our past; no one can change it and no one can forget it.
Moving to America won't change what happened in the past, it might make Amir feel like he has left the incident behind but wherever he goes he'll still have the incident in his mind for the rest of his life. For an incident to happen to one so young and to do something so terrible at such a young age, he will always remember what he did to Hassan.
I believe that coming to America will help to ease the pain he feels about Hassan but I dont feel he will techinically ever "get over" his past. It will take a lot for Amir to feel he has been redeemed. I also agree with what Lauren said, she's very correct about how America will not fully erase Amir's past.
I think that when Amir moves to America, he will be able to forget his past some. He will not be able to forget it all just because he has done so much in his past. He will get to America and think of it as a place to kind of have a restart on his life. ~stefan~
I don't think by coming to America, Amir can get over his past. It is truth that he said America is a place for him to bury his past, but in reality, it will always stay in his heart. It is not the soil but the person who carry the sins.

I feel it is hard for someone to just forget their past. It will always be there no matter how much we try to cover it up. By moving to America, it only helps Amir cover up his past and move on. Even though it is a place for Amir to bury his past, we must also think of how it is a place for Baba to mourn his past. It is said that sometimes our past can come back to haunt us until we can be honest with ourselves. -J.C.
I think moving to US. helped Amir temporary, but it wouldn’t help him in a longer term. In his mind, he always had a guilty feeling and haunting memory about what he did thirty years ago: he thought he and his wife couldn’t have a baby because of his sin, and he didn’t deserve to be happy. He avoided to face with his sin, but could not escape from it completely. If Rham Khan did not give him a second chance, he might have to live in awful memory entire his life.
